The Akron Zoo is a great place for families with children, and a great place to visit throughout the year. With a zoo membership, you can visit as many timesa year as you'd like - all for one low price. The zoo offers several special events during the year such as Pajama Party, Zoobilation, Senior Safari, Boo at the Zoo and Snack with Santa.

The Zoo is a fully accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the American Association of Museums (AAM) as both a living museum and a botanical garden. AZA accredited facilities are dedicated to providing excellent care for their plants and animals, a great experience for guests and a better future for all living things.

The Friends of the Omaha Zoo (FOOZ) Critter Ride is back at Omaha's Zoo. Participants of all ages will have the opportunity to take a unique bike ride through Zoo grounds in the 1.5 mile ride or through Zoo grounds and surrounding neighborhood in the 10 mile race (children ages 3-12 will automatically be entered in the 1.5 mile race). Participants will receive a t-shirt, goodies from TREK Bike Store, breakfast from Whole Foods Market and free admission in to the annual Zoolypmics event starting at 10 a.m.. After years of bullets and bombs, the Kabul Zoo in Afghanistan lies in ruins, its few remaining animals scarred by civil war and torment. The only elephant was killed by a rocket. The sole lion has one eye; its other was lost in a grenade attack. The Afghan bear has a blistering sore on its nose from a beating. The zoo grounds are a mess: The bars of the cages are twisted; fresh water and electricity are rare commodities; and medical treatment for the creatures is all but nonexistent.
