Zoloft: Morning
built 663 days ago
Zoloft is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor), which is thought to work by increasing the amount of serotonin (a chemical involved in communication between nerve cells) available to the brain, so that it comes back to a normal level. Zoloft has been shown to be effective in relieving several kinds of emotional disturbance that decrease the ability to function normally. This includes:
The standard dose for Zoloft for children aged 6 to 12 is 25 milligrams and for adolescents aged 13 to 17, 50 milligrams. For children less than 6, safety and effectiveness have not been established yet.
Zoloft (Sertraline) has been available since early 1992. It is similar to Prozac, but the principal metabolite is substantially less active than the parent compound as an inhibitor of serotonin re-uptake. The half-life of Zoloft and its metabolite is considerably shorter than that of Prozac.
Zoloft is available in capsule and oral concentrate forms. To prepare Zoloft oral concentrate, use the dropper provided. Measure out the amount of concentrate prescribed by your doctor and mix it with 4 ounces of water, ginger ale, lemon/lime soda, lemonade, or orange juice. (Do not mix the concentrate with any other type of beverage.) Drink the mixture immediately; do not prepare it in advance for later use. At times, a slight haze may appear after mixing, but this is normal.

Pugh warned that Zoloft use may cause side effects such as agitation, erratic behavior, restlessness, difficulty speaking, or shaking of hands and fingers. He added that Zoloft can help those suffering from agitation, erratic behavior, restlessness, difficulty speaking, and shaking of hands and fingers.

Zoloft is normally taken once a day, and can be taken with or without food. If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose the following day. Store away from light and heat. Zoloft may take several weeks to improve your condition.
