Zeus: Greek Olympian
built 276 days ago
Zeus Since the Olympians and their parents could not die, Zeus banished Cronus to a distant island in the Atlantic Ocean. That island could be the Azores, or even Torrey Island, off the coast of Ireland. Other accounts have the Titan going to Italy or even being imprisoned in Tartarus.

Outside of the major inter-polis sanctuaries, there were no modes of worshipping Zeus precisely shared across the Greek world. Most of the titles listed below, for instance, could be found at any number of Greek temples from Asia Minor to Sicily. Certain modes of ritual were held in common as well: sacrificing a white animal over a raised altar, for instance.
Phidias, a famous Greek sculptor and his laborers carved a giant statue of Zeus in a special workshop behind the temple. It was made entirely of ivory and gold (Chryselephantine). When finished it sat in the temple on an elaborate throne along with sculptures and paintings of Greek myths and legends. Zeus was the most celebrated statue of ancient times because of its greatness, charm and worth.
Moving on to more Godly matters, ZEUS was ... known to the ancient Greeks as Epiphanes, the Magnificent One, whenever a certain star appeared in the east. This was celebrated with piph-ups known as epiphanies.
