Johnson distinguished himself with a solid performance at The K Club in Ireland but ultimately finished with a 1–2–1 mark as the U.S. team suffered another lopsided defeat at the hands of the Europeans. Nonetheless, the hard-working Johnson, who turned 31 in February, appears to be a player on the rise in PGA Tour waters.
Johnson is known as one of the more religious players on tour, and he makes no secret of his faith. When he climbed up on a riser behind the 18th green for an interview, he joked that he should “start preaching.”

This is Johnson's first win in a Major Championship, and second PGA win. He finished in 17th place in the 2005 PGA Championship, but was cut from the British Open three years in a row. Johnson netted $1,305,000 USD for this win.
