One thing Johnson didn't find much time for was working on his game. In those two weeks off he hit balls only once, and the rust showed during his first tournament back, the Wachovia Championship, in which he shot 75-75-80 over the final three rounds to finish last among those who made the cut. The shaky performance was a reminder of how corrosive all the distractions could be, and it helped him refocus on the little things that have made him a big-time player.

Johnson showed patience — at least on the surface — through cold and windy weather throughout the four rounds of play. Johnson was the first player from Iowa to finish in the top 10 of the Masters. Before this years Masters, the highest placing player from Iowa was Jack Fleck, from Davenport, who tied at 11th in 1962.
Matt Messenger, assistant golf pro at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids, shows a Zach Johnson display in the clubhouse. Johnson started playing golf at Elmcrest when he was 10, Messenger said. Johnson won the Masters tournament on Sunday.
Zachary Harris Johnson (born February 24, 1976) was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and is a professional golfer, and the winner of the 2007 Masters Tournament, held yearly in Augusta, Georgia. He is prominent among a new generation of Christian athletes. [1]
It’s been more than a month since Johnson electrified his home state with his Master’s victory on Easter Sunday — becoming the first Iowan ever to wear the storied tournament’s coveted green jacket. He followed that major win with a victory at the AT&T Classic last weekend.

Johnson read Late Night's Top-Ten list on Monday after the Masters. Number six was "Even I've never heard of me." Casual fans haven't followed Johnson's career closely. How could you? He's only been hitting the ball around PGA Tour set-ups since 2004.
