Canadian-born actress Yvonne De Carlo, a long-time resident of Los Angeles, died of natural causes on Monday at the Motion Picture & Television Fund's Retirement Home in Woodland Hills. She was 84. She is survived by Bruce Morgan, one of her two sons.

De Carlo was born Margaret Yvonne Middleton in Vancouver, British Columbia, on September 1, 1922 or 1924 depending on what source you choose to believe. The child’s father abandoned her and her mother in extremely difficult circumstances. De Carlo received some dance training and dropped out of high school to work in nightclubs and local theaters. She continued dancing in clubs when she and her mother moved to Los Angeles.

In 1962, Yvonne and Bob were having difficulty in their marriage. Then, while he was working in Globe, Arizona, on the set of How the West Was Won, Bob fell under a moving train and lost a leg and suffered other serious injuries. During his multi-year recovery, Yvonne put her career on hold to care for him. When the realities of their finances became apparent, she went back to work.
