As always with Yorkies, there were several cases of 'instant love'. David and Des from Bellingen are currently without Yorkies of their own, but they were treated to love at first sight by members of Chris and David's band of six 'Bimbimbie Yorkshire Terrorists'. Four year old Lilly McClelland, daughter of Bathurst vet Dr Tom, was loved for the day by Hesta (Jan Clarke's Ch Yetholme Heavns Blessing) and Kerri-Lyn Ottaway spent the day bonding with Wilma (Ch Yetholme Wild Mink) before taking her home to start their new life together.

As far as training goes, Yorkies are a very intelligent breed and learn quickly. They do well with basic obedience, and should be trained so they can grow up a credit to their breed. The last thing you want is an over-protective, over-aggressive and spoiled Yorkshire Terrier.

Some Yorkies are prone to bronchitis and early tooth decay, poor tolerance of anaesthetic, and delicate digestion. Exotic treats should be avoided. They sometimes suffer paralysis in the hindquarters caused by herniated disks and other problems of the spine. Falls or knocks can cause fractures of fragile bones. Abnormal skull formations in Yorkies measuring less then 8 inches (20cm). Bitches often have trouble delivering.

Yorkies come in different sizes. Of course you may have heard the terms “teacup yorkie”, “toy yorkie”, “standard yorkie”, and “miniature yorkie”. Yorkies are actually considered a toy breed. This means that all yorkies are toy. Some breeders use the term teacup when they are referring to yorkies that are about 2 ½ lbs full grown. These tiny dogs are referred to as purse dogs because they fit into a purse.

Yorkshire Terrier can get 6-9 inches in height and usually yorkies can weigh between 1-15 pounds. Yorkshire Terrier Puppies come with several colors Dark steel blue from back of head to their tail. Face, feet and their chest are usually tan. Yorkshire Terrier coats are usually fine with a glossy look and flowing like silk. Yorkshire Terriers are Intelligent, loving, affectionate, lively, brave, confident and energetic. Yorkshire Terriers must be brushed everyday and sometimes more than one time a day, this will keep the yorkies coat in healthy nice condition.Yorkshire Terriers get along great with all other animals, and can live together and bond with other breeds. When it is cold outside and rainy, the Yorshire Terriers don't thrive well and need to be inside with you.

Yorkies love fruits and vegetables! Yes, you read it right. Always give appropriate bite sizes for your loved one and watch them closely so they don’t choke. Some Yorkies have better etiquette than others.
