1. The War of the Worlds -- Warner Bros
   Given the circumstances of the 1938 radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds," do you think you would have panicked? Have students write a response to that questions in their journals. They must include three supporting ideas to justify their responses.
2. Kawasaki
   The first professional baseball team in Kawasaki were the Mainichi Orions, who used Kawasaki Stadium as their secondary homefield when the stadium was opened in 1952. The first official team to declare Kawasaki their home were the Takahashi Unions, established in 1954 as the 8th team in the Pacific League. The team was created from beer manufacturer Ryutaro Takahashi's own pocket money, and was mostly made up of players who had been cut from other teams, resulting in poor finishes each year. The team ended up becoming a huge financial mess, and was merged with the Taiei Stars team before the start of the 1957 season.
3. Disney Channel -- Mickey Mouse
   From 2002 - present, Disney Channel used Mickey Mouse's face again, this time with the "Disney Channel" logo. From 2002 - 2007, the face bounced from corner to corner of the screen. They show which 2 shows are next. At the beginning of each movie's, or each episode's, part, the face bounced to the screen and show what show they are watching.

   The Walt Disney Studios is a unit of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) and distributes motion pictures under Walt Disney Pictures -- which includes Walt Disney Feature Animation and DisneyToon Studios -- Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures and Miramax Films. Buena Vista International serves as the studio's international distribution arm. Buena Vista Home Entertainment and Buena Vista Home Entertainment International together distribute Disney and other film titles to the rental and sell-through home entertainment markets worldwide. Buena Vista Theatrical Productions is one of the largest producers of Broadway musicals, and the Buena Vista Music Group distributes original music and motion picture soundtracks under its four record labels: Walt Disney Records, Buena Vista Records, Hollywood Records and Lyric Street Records.
5. Tokyo -- Tokyo Japan
   Tokyo Metropolis is the media and communications center of Japan. By the late 1980s the city included many of Japan’s media and communications businesses, despite having only about 10 percent of the country’s population. In the early 1990s some 2,400 monthly and weekly periodicals were being published in Tokyo. Moreover, there are eight general newspapers published in the city, as well as three economic and industrial newspapers and seven sports newspapers. The newspapers with the largest circulations are Yomiuri Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, and Asahi Shimbun. Tokyo is ... the origin of most television and radio programming in Japan.
6. May Fourth Movement -- Chinas
   The May Fourth Movement was part cultural revolution, part social movement. On the cultural side, the students had been inspired in the preceding two decades by Western thought, creating a feeling of frustration and dissatisfaction with Chinese tradition. In the intellectual ferment that resulted from this, answers were sought for the questions why and how China had lagged behind the West. The negative influences of traditional morality, the clan system and Confucianism were seen as the main causes. China in its sorry state could only be cured by ‘Two Doctors’: Doctor Science and Doctor Democracy.
