The laws for Yom Kippur include all of the work restrictions found on Shabbos. In addition, there are 5 ennuim, afflictions, which a person is ... not allowed to do on Yom Kippur. These are eating or drinking, washing one's body, anointing one's body, wearing leather shoes and marital relations.

Rav Hutner (Pachad Yitzchak, Yom Kippur 8,1) describes Sukkot as serving a dual function. It is one of the three pilgrimage festivals, and simultaneously caps the cycle of Yamim haNoraim. The latter point is based on the midrash which sees the four minim of Sukkot as a divine gift, bestowed upon Am Yisrael to testify to their innocence after Yom Kippur. But is there a deeper connection?

Before sundown, in memory of parents who are deceased, Yahrzeit candles are lit that will burn throughout the 25 hours of Yom Kippur. After this, two holiday candles are kindled and blessed. This ceremony marks the beginning of Yom Kippur, which means no eating or drinking from this point.

Zino was killed while riding her bicycle on Yom Kippur in the northern community of Kfar Tavor, where she was hit by an all-terrain vehicle and sustained critical injuries. She was rushed to Ha'Emek Hospital in Afula, but doctors were unable to save her life.
