The deal would be the 26th U.S. purchase for Yell since it bought Yellow Book for $665 million in 1999. Upon completion, Yell's U.S. business will overtake its British division in sales. Growth in the sector is running faster in the United States than in Britain, where advertising rates are regulated.Yellow Book would become the fifth-largest directory publisher in the United States, with revenue of about $1.5 billion for the past financial year, Yell said.
