Yazoo County is a very attractive area for industrial expansion and location. Transportation is a definite strength for Yazoo. Yazoo County is ideally situated near a large metropolitan area. An Interstate Highway passes through part of the county and a four-lane US Highway is easily accessible to most of the county.
Burning of the Yazoo Land Act The Yazoo Land Fraud began in 1785 with the organization of the Combined Society and the creation of Bourbon County Georgia. The Combined Society was a secret society those only purpose was "By means of certain influences brought to bear upon those in authority to obtain from the State(Georgia) large grants of land, either for immigration or for sale, in either case for the end of making a large sum of money out of the transaction". Bourbon County Georgia was located on the Mississippi and included the site of the future city of Natchez. Georgia appointed civil and judicial officers for Bourbon County but repealed the Bourbon County Act in 1788. The Combined Society faded away but the evil lingered on.

Yazoo County is located in the central part of the State of Mississippi and comprises the largest land mass of any county in the State, encompassing 934 square miles, with a total population of 28,149. Within the county are the four municipalities of Yazoo City, Bentonia, Eden and Satartia. The county is rural in nature with Yazoo City being the County Seat and the hub of economic activity for the area. Yazoo County has long been known as the Gateway to the Delta but is quickly becoming known as the Gateway to the Capital City. Yazoo County is only 45 minutes from the State Capital - Jackson, Mississippi. And although Yazoo County is not part of the Jackson Metropolitan Area, its boundaries are contiguous with Madison and Hinds Counties, both of which are in the metropolitan area.
Yazoo County was established January 21, 1823 as the state's 19th county and is the largest county in Mississippi. Yazoo County covers about 1,018 square miles (625,000 acres), most of which is used for farming. The community now known as Yazoo City was founded in 1824, originally with the name Hannan's Bluff'''. The town was later renamed '''Manchester''' then changed to '''Yazoo City in 1839. Yazoo city became the Yazoo County seat in 1849.
