[O]n that front the new Yamaha is a killer. The design details on this bike are exquisite. Every fastener, every shutline, every contour and texture has been thoughtfully considered. Yamaha’s controlled-fill casting technique has allowed the designers to sculpt the frame and swingarm with slashes and contours. The tail light fits into its space like a jigsaw piece. The underseat exhaust system is a sinuous titanium sculpture that stabs angle-slashed tailpipes from beneath the waspish tailsection.
The sport of snowmobiling in the late 1960's was exploding in North America and Yamaha was not content to watch this market from the sidelines. Yamaha had extensive manufacturing capabilities with its motorcycle line and snowmobiles seemed like a likely candidate to fill production in the off-season while capitalizing on their current motorsport knowledge.

Yamaha has long produced captive LSIs successfully for its own products. A case in point is digitization of sound sources, which converts the actual sound of piano and wind instruments into digital signals for faithful reproduction, as featured in the expressive Electone. External sales of LSIs started in 1983.

Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Yamaha adds studio-quality audio recording capabilities to the CRW-70 Spyder's arsenal by arming it with the new Audio Master Quality Recording System. Yamaha has made this outstanding feature available for the stylish CRW-70 via a simple firmware download, following enormous success of the Audio Master's near-professional-grade quality CDs created with the CRW3200 series. The Audio Master Quality Recording System is designed to guarantee the best possible audio recording quality on conventional 74 or 80-minute CD-R discs. When its recording mode is enabled, the system widens the lands and the pits, significantly reducing jitter created during CD-R recording. As a result, the Audio Master system allows the CRW-70 to drastically improve upon the standard audio and music recording quality to a level rivaling professionally prepared audio CDs.

Yamaha has recently claimed a 100% four-stroke snowmobile line-up, making them the only snowmobile manufacturer to do so. In Canada though, there are still three models that Yamaha manufactures that are still 2 stroke. They are the Bravo, VK 540 and the Venture XL. Yamaha had introduced four-strokes to their line-up in 2003 and the line-up became four-stroke based for model year 2005. Many say that Yamaha has proven snowmobiles can be clean, efficient, and reliable all while maintaining strong performance. The RX-1 released in 2003 was the first performance-oriented four-stroke snowmobile to ever hit the market. It was not... the first modern four-stroke snowmobile produced.
yec-actionsquare.jpg Five-time MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi starts his fifth season with Yamaha in an unusual position, following what was undoubtedly one of the hardest seasons of his career. Rossi took four race wins in 2007 and several podiums, but his prodigious talents were limited by technical and tyre problems as well as plain bad luck. The Italian missed out on the runner-up spot in the championship by just one point after his final race was wrecked by injury and third place was his lowest championship finish since his rookie year in 1996. 2008 will see Rossi hungry to win back the title he previously made his own for five years as he sets out on a new chapter in his career, having made the switch to Bridgestone tyres.
