The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB) in Yale College offers studies in wide-ranging aspects of modern biology leading to Baccalaureate and Doctoral degrees. The sixth-oldest medical school in the United States, the school was established by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1810 when it chartered the Medical Institution of Yale College, located first on Grove Street, then at 150 York Street. Since 1924, it has occupied Sterling Hall of Medicine at 333 Cedar Street and surrounding buildings. It has awarded 7,940 medical degrees since 1814. There are 4,962 living alumni with M.D. degrees, 3,664 with M.P.H. degrees and 847 alumni of the Physician Associate Program.
Yale College students come from a variety of ethnic, national, and socio-economic backgrounds. Of the 2006-07 freshman class, 9% are international students, while 54% went to public high schools.[56] Minority students are visible and active in numerous cultural organizations, several cultural houses, and campus events.
American college sports and traditions were largely developed at Yale, beginning with rowing in 1843. Yale's greatest sports contributions have been in the invention of American football by Walter Camp, and in developing the sports of swimming, baseball, basketball, golf, and boxing.

Gemma Bloemen ’10 said that Yale for Hillary — of which she is a member — will have its first organizational meeting on Monday, Sept. 17, in the Silliman College courtyard. She said there were no specific events planned but that those would be discussed at the meeting.
