Yahoo Chat can be found at chat.yahoo.com. In order to use this service you must first sign up for a Yahoo e-mail account by choosing a user ID and password. This ID and password will allow you to access e-mail, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Chat.

What, if Yahoo is going to block its group chatrooms to users under 18, is it going to kill Yahoo messenger too? Pervs send sexually illicit messages through YIM all the time, and with the webcams, it’s just worse. Is AIM going to do something? MSN? Eventually, are they just going to kill Instant Messaging? Hell, that’d be THE safest thing!

Before you enter a room, you’ll need to choose the chat tool from the Chat Software field that appears at the top of the Yahoo! Chat pages. By default, the field displays Chat 2.0. When you click the field’s arrow, you can choose Java or Messenger. Chat 2.0 and Messenger are similar, feature-rich tools, while the Java chat tool has a more streamlined interface. Unless you don’t use Messenger, you’ll probably prefer the program’s easy-to-manage chat windows.
