Xzibit was born Alvin Nathaniel Joiner in Detroit, Michigan, USA, otherwise known as the Motor City. X spent time in New Mexico and Arizona as a teenager, before relocating to California in the late 80s to try and make his name on the west coast rap scene. After a series of false starts he teamed up with the Likwit crew, making guest appearances on King Tee's King Tee IV Life and Tha Alkaholiks' Coast II Coast and going on the road with the latter. A recording contract with Loud Records was not long in following. His 1996 debut At The Speed Of Life featured production by DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill and included the brilliant underground hit "Paparazzi," but failed to make much of a commercial impact. The follow-up's "What U See Is What U Get" set out Xzibit's manifesto, with the raw, earnest delivery marking him out as an old school rapper of the highest order.

Xzibit now had a name and some skills but he needed peace in his life as it became too dangerous for him on the streets. "My friends started dying and I damn near got killed in Albuquerque," he says. Xzibit set his sights for sunny California. With everything he owned packed into his black and purple Geo Tracker, $3,000 cash, and a highlighted road map to L.A., Xzibit left Albuquerque with one Los Angeles contact and no 'plan B.' Taking heed to his father's words "Don't procrastinate," he began hustling, rapping at local L.A. clubs and networking. He would soon be introduced to King Tee and West Coast rap group, Tha Alkaholiks.
Xzibit performing live in Berlin, 2007 In December of 2007, Xzibit had a on going feud with rapper BustaRhymes over Power 106. Xzibit had said that he was a good talented rapper and had compared himself to Busta. BustaRhymes was offended and had told off Xzibit during a Interview on Hip-Hop central. Then in followings weeks after New Years. The two recorded diss tracks towards each other, But recently the two called a truce.
By 1996, Xzibit had signed a recording contract himself as a soloist with Loud Records. His debut album, At the Speed of Life, was released that year. Within the lyrics of that first recording, he defined his artistic paradigm. That basis, in conjunction with a trademark musical style that was replete with raw emotion, combined to create a persona through which he rejected the ethic of the contemporary music industry. That ethic, in Xzibit's perception, was motivated by profit. By his own admission, Xzibit infused the album with a substantive message through which he intended to define his presence as an artist.
Xzibit - Restless Xzibit got his start as a member of the Likwit Crew a loose collective of West Coast rappers including Tha Alkaholiks and King Tee. After touring with them in 1995, Loud Records released the feisty young rapper's debut album, At the Speed of Life (1996). The album, produced by DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill and Diamond D, became an underground hit. When Xzibit released his follow-up, 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz (1998), he was again heralded as one of the West Coast's most promising talents.
