1. Inclined Plane
   The Johnstown Inclined Plane is a cable-hauled railway that provides transportation between downtown Johnstown, on the floor of the Conemaugh River valley, and the borough of Westmont, on top of the bluff that overlooks the valley from the west. Like the two "inclines" in nearby Pittsburgh, the Inclined Plane is a funicular, which uses two cars that counterbalance each other and always move in opposite directions. The stationary engine at the upper station needs to provide only enough power to overcome friction and the difference in the weights of the two cars. The cars leave the upper and lower stations simultaneously, and always pass at the midpoint of the track. Unlike its cousins in Pittsburgh, the Inclined Plane carries vehicles as well as passengers.
2. Mandelbrot Set -- Complex Plane
   The whole Mandelbrot set lies within a circle of radius 2.5 centered at the origin of the complex plane. Although finite in area, the Set has a boundary that is infinitely long and has a Hausdorff dimension of 2. The overall appearance of the Mandelbrot set is that of a series of disks. These disks have irregular borders and decrease in size heading out along the negative real axis; ... the ratio of the diameter of one disk to the next approaches a constant. More complex shapes branch out from the disks. One region of the Mandelbrot set containing spiral shapes is known as Seahorse Valley because it resembles a seahorse's tail.
3. Bermuda Triangle -- Planes
   The most infamous Bermuda Triangle incident is the loss of Flight 19, a squadron of five Navy bombers on a training flight out of Ft. Lauderdale on December 5, 1945. According to Berlitz, the flight consisted of expert pilots who, after reporting a number of odd visual effects, simply disappeared. Furthermore, Berlitz claims that because the TBM Avenger bombers were built to float for long periods, they should have been found the next day considering what were reported as calm seas. However, not only were they never found, a Navy search and rescue plane that went after them was ... lost. Adding to the intrigue is that the Navy's report of the accident was ascribed to "causes or reasons unknown".
4. Alaska Airlines -- Planes
   Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. of Seattle (NYSE: ALK), first plans to install the timing systems at eight gates at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport by next summer. Future plans include installing them at all of the airline's gates at Los Angeles International Airport, Portland International Airport and Anchorage International Airport.
5. X -- Users

7. X-Wing -- X-Wing Fighter
   X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter was one of the most anxiously anticipated and yet ultimately most disappointing games of 1997. While the addition of multiplayer features was welcome, most players were displeased that Totally Games and LucasArts focused exclusively on providing a multiplayer dogfighting arena and completely abandoned the plot-rich gameplay that made previous games in the series so addictive. The Balance of Power expansion pack responded to most of the complaints that gamers had concerning X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, but by the time it arrived on retail shelves, most players had already moved on to other games. With X-Wing Alliance, Totally Games and LucasArts have at last delivered the game that many players had hoped X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter would be and in the process have created a suitably epic finale to their series of space sims based upon the first trilogy of Star Wars movies.
8. The X-Files
   With something like "The X-Files: Fight the Future", there are two ways to evaluate its merits. On the one hand, it can be assessed as another 'episode' of the series, and be judged on its consistency with and its ability to further develop the ongoing series mythology. This, of course, would presume a working knowledge of the show and its characters. In this respect, the movie succeeds quite well, playing on the quirks of the series' beloved protagonists and the aspirations of the show's avid fans (including whether or the two agents will actually share an on-screen kiss). In addition to the presence of Mulder and Scully, other series regulars, such as Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), the Lone Gunmen (Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund,, and Bruce Harwood), the First Elder (Don S. Williams), and the Well-Manicured Man (John Neville), put in appearances. However, with the exception of the latter, most of these roles seem obligatory in nature-- their appearances are more for providing familiar faces than necessary for propelling the story forward.
9. The X Men -- New Mutants
   The 66,284-square-foot store is designed to offer Mexican shoppers products they grew up with, and other shoppers new foods presented with preparation ideas by a friendly, well-trained staff. The butcher shop showcases items used in traditional cooking, from marinated and seasoned meats to family packs for those who wish to buy larger quantities for extra savings. The produce department features popular Hispanic items, and the center of the store offers traditional grocery products as well as spices and seasonings required for home-style Mexican cooking. A party center is ... available, and features the assistance of a party consultant.
10. Malcolm X -- Muslim Nation
    Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska. His father, a Baptist minister, was an outspoken follower of Marcus Garvey (1887–1940), the black nationalist leader. (A nationalist is a person who promotes one nation's culture and interests over all others.) Garvey supported a "back-to-Africa" movement for African Americans. During Malcolm's early years, his family moved several times because of racism (dislike and poor treatment of people based on their race). They moved from Omaha, Nebraska, after being threatened by the Ku Klux Klan, a group that believes that white people are superior to all other races. While living in an all-white neighborhood in Michigan their house was burned.
