Wwe Raw: Wwe Raw 2

Prior to September 2, 2002, the WWE recognized only one Champion for both RAW and SmackDown! However, after SummerSlam, champion Brock Lesnar signed a (storyline) deal to become exclusive to SmackDown!, leaving RAW without a champion. RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff then awarded the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H in the form of the old WCW Championship belt due to the fact that he was the last person to hold that title before it was consolidated with the WWF Championship as the Undisputed Title (Y2J was the first Undisputed Champion but physically carried the WWF and WCW titles as separate belts on television). Triple H made his successful title defense against Ric Flair, but eventually lost the belt to Shawn Michaels in the first ever Elimination Chamber match at Survivor Series 2002, but regained it in a 3 Stages of Hell match at Armageddon 2002.

WWE Raw 2 plays very similarly to its predecessor. If you never played WWF Raw, the game employed a simplistic, albeit sluggish, style of gameplay, with strike, grapple, block, and action functions as the primary controls. The basic control scheme for Raw 2 is largely untouched, but some of the actions themselves are handled a bit differently. For one, there is no longer a block function to speak of. Instead, your only method of avoiding attacks is to dodge or counter--both of which are now controlled by one button. One new addition is the game's movement scheme, which uses both the D pad and the left analog stick.

WWE Raw claimed to have earned the distinction of having the most original episodes of any fictional weekly program on August 2, 2005 when it broadcasted the 636th episode. It was said to have took the place of Gunsmoke, which held that distinction. However, under the criteria WWE used to make this claim, the actual record would be held by the show Georgia Championship Wrestling, which ran continuously on Saturday evenings on TBS between 1972 and 1984.

The WWE Raw Live wrestling episode broadcast on TNN on Monday, July 29, 2002 beginning at 8:00 PM was assuredly equivalent to R-rated movies. Each individual act of violence may not have been as severe as much of the violence in movies, but the sheer number of them drove the scoring through the floor.
