Overall, WWE RAW 2 is an improvement over RAW in many areas. It has very good presentation, menus and layout, you can create up to 64 wrestlers and you can edit real wrestlers' attire, moves and entrances. Combine this with the awesome graphics, decent sound and a refreshing season mode and this puts the game on the road to being great. Unfortunately, the gameplay, glitches and mind-bogglingly bad artificial intelligence let this game down. You will probably get bored of playing the same matches over and over, or get fed up with the glitches and dumb enemies. If you have friends to play with, season mode and exhibition matches can give you hours of entertainment, even if you can't battle over titles.

This is what WWE Raw 2 does right. It is more than enough to make wrestling fans froth and get everyone else in the ring for at least a few matches. However, a couple of key faults are holding this game back. The control system is unnecessarily fragmented and sluggish. The button layout is fine, allowing players to punch, grapple, counter, and use objects. Movement, on the other hand, is divided between running with the left stick and walking with the D-pad.

That is the maxim that has built THQ's WWE SmackDown vs. Raw into a winning wrestling game franchise. When the franchise first appeared after THQ outbid Acclaim several years ago - and initially appearing on the PSone platform - the game was a pale imitation of Acclaim's game, which at the time was pretty impressive.
