Writing a press release is not as easy as it looks. Public relations practitioners spend a lot of time learning how to write a good press release for maximum exposure in the press and it's a lot more than just writing some words down about your company and putting FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE at the top. Likewise with good advertising or marketing, it's all about what words you use and how you use them. It's a skill that must be learned and is based on lots of communication and psychology research.

Writing was very important in maintaining the Egyptian empire, and literacy was concentrated among an educated elite of scribes. Only people from certain backgrounds were allowed to train to become scribes, in the service of temple, pharaonic, and military authorities.
