With Workstation, you can take a “snapshot” that preserves the state of a virtual machine so you can return to it at any time. Snapshots are useful when you need to revert your virtual machine to a prior, stable system state. Workstation displays thumbnails of all your snapshots on a single screen, making it easy for you to track and revert to a previously saved snapshot.

Shared LAN Cache (SLC) works by redirecting PC workstation data requests to SLC local and shared caches instead of the file server where the file is actually opened. SLC is easy to install, NOS independent and requires no changes to existing file servers. SLC works with DOS and Windows and is compatible with Network Operating Systems from Banyan, Novell, DEC, Microsoft and Unix-NFS implementations.

Any off-the-shelf components can be used to build a workstation, but the lifespans of such components under such rigorous conditions are questionable. For this reason, almost no workstations are built by the customer themselves but rather purchased from a vendor such as BOXX, EUROCOM, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sun Microsystems, SGI or Dell.
