Supported operating systems include Wind River's VxWorks and Linux, in addition to kernel.org Linux, Express Logic's ThreadX, and Mentor Graphics' Nucleus. Other commercial operating systems and in-house proprietary operating systems can be integrated by Wind River Professional Services.

The SINDA/G for ANSYS Workbench plug-in is a transparent integration of SINDA/G into ANSYS Workbench. Of benefit to both beginning thermal modelers and advanced thermal analysts, the transparent integration allows users to utilize advanced thermal features involving convection, surface-to-surface radiation and orbital heating without needing to know the format of SINDA/G or thermal radiation codes. Experienced SINDA/G users no longer will be limited by the simple boundary conditions typically associated with finite element analysis (FEA) thermal codes: They now can experience the full power of SINDA/G within the ANSYS Workbench environment.

As with most other MySQL GUI tools, Workbench is divided between native, platform specific GUI frontends and a generic and portable backend. For allowing a richer and smoother user experience, a native user interface frontend is maintained for each major platform (Windows/.NET, Linux/Gtk+ and MacOSX/Cocoa). On the other hand, the common backend is written in such a way that it can be easily extended and reused.

Socket Workbench can be configured to run as a socket client or server, or you can run it in pass-through mode* to intercept socket communications without packet sniffing. You can send and receive both text and binary data that you have typed in or read from a file. It can be used to "stress test" servers and clients.
