Wonder Woman Since this influential comic book super hero character was first created by polygamist feminist psychologist William Moulton Marston in 1941, Wonder Woman's origins and continuing storylines have been tied intricately to Greco-Roman mythology. The ancient Greek and Roman pantheon consisting of Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Athena, etc. have always been rendered as explicitly real in Wonder Woman's universe. This pantheon is ... known as the Olympians, or the gods of Olympus, named after Mount Olympus, the mountain in Greece which was until recently their home.

Wonder Woman (Vol. 2) #1. (Feb. 1987) Art by George Pérez. Soon after Wonder Woman's readmittance to the JLA, DC Comics ushered in another format change. Following the popularity of the Wonder Woman TV series (initially set during World War II), the comic book was ... transposed to this era. The change was made possible by the multiverse concept, which maintained that the 1970s Wonder Woman and the original 1940s version existed in two separate yet parallel, worlds. A few months after the TV series changed its setting to the 1970s, the comic book returned to the contemporary timeline. Soon after, when the series was written by Jack C. Harris, Steve (Howard) Trevor was killed off yet again.

wonder woman Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston, pen name Charles Moulton, a consultant for Detective Comics (now DC Comics) in 1940. With the super men filling the field, from Superman, to Batman, to Green Lantern, WMM was concerned that there was no female hero. The head of DC Comics, Max Gaines, encourage Marston to create a female superhero, which he did, using the pen name Charles Moulton which was a combination of Max Charles Gaines middle name and his own middle name. And so Wonder Woman was born, first appearing in 1941 (All Star Comics #8). Marston was the creator of the systolic blood-pressure test, which led to the invention of the polygraph. He was convinced that women were more honest that men and could work faster and more reliably.
