The method for educating women in England differed from that of northern Italy. Almost all girls were educated at home, either by their parents or a hired tutor. According to a 1997 survey (De Sandre 1997), the most common method of contraception in Italy is withdrawal, which is used by 29.2 percent of women of fertile age with a stable relationship.
