One of the most famous teams in NHL history, Detroit Red Wings tickets are in the least hard to come by. One of the league’s “Original Six,” the Red Wings have taken hockey fans by storm since the beginning of the NHL. Winning the Stanley Cup an unprecedented ten times, the team has proven itself time and time again as a powerhouse to hockey fanatics everywhere. Love them or hate them, you can’t deny that this is one of the greatest teams in sports history.
The Detroit Red Wings are a professional ice hockey team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The club is one of the Original Six teams of the NHL. The Red Wings are one of the most popular hockey franchises in North America, so much that Detroit is nicknamed "Hockeytown." The Red Wings have won the most Stanley Cup championships (10) of any NHL franchise based in the United States, and are third overall in total NHL championships, behind the Montreal Canadiens (24) and Toronto Maple Leafs (13). They currently play in Joe Louis Arena after having spent over 40 years in Olympia Stadium.
As one of the “Original Six” NHL teams, the Detroit Red Wings have a long and proud hockey history complete with 10 Stanley Cup titles. The huge demand for Red Wings hockey tickets has earned Detroit the nickname “Hockeytown,” and that is certainly well deserved. Numerous NHL greats have worn a Red Wings sweater, including Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk, Alex Delvecchio, Ted Lindsay and Steve Yzerman. And of course you can’t talk about Red Wings hockey without mentioning their longtime coach Scotty Bowman.

In 2003-04, the Detroit Red Wings had the NHL's best regular-season record and the highest payroll. At nearly $80 million, it topped the lowest-spending Pittsburgh Penguins by more than $54 million. The salary cap, instituted after the 2004-05 lockout, was expected to change the NHL's competitive balance because big-market teams couldn't buy their way to success.
The Red Wings aren't just a storied franchise with a great history, they're a current offensive juggernaut! Ranked number two last season in total goals with over 300, fans can expect more of the same this season. Babcock has installed a tough, disciplined and penalty-killing defense as well. Niklas Kronwell has the potential to win the Norris Trophy for Detroit for the second year in a row. With Detroit Red Wings tickets, you get it all: great shots and tight defense. And a octopus or two.

With NHL hockey returning from a season-long hiatus, Michigan hockey fans are counting the days until the 2005 Detroit Red Wings schedule kicks off with a home game against the St. Louis Blues. The Blues finished second to the Wings in the Central Division in 2003-04, 18-points behind the 2004 President's Trophy winning Red Wings. The two teams will meet in a home-and-home series, with the puck dropping at Joe Louis Stadium on October 5 at 7:30pm, and the clubs heading to St. Louis for an 8:00pm rematch the following evening. From there, the Wings head home for games against Calgary and Vancouver on October 9 and 10, before closing out the first full week of regular season action on the road against Los Angeles on October 13 and Phoenix on October 15. They close out the first month of the 2005-06 season with home games against San Jose, Anaheim and Chicago and road contests with the Blue Jackets and the Blackhawks.
