Winger in hockey is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play on the ice is along the outer playing area. They typically work by flanking the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Nowadays, there are different types of wing men/women (wingers) in the game รข€” out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners.

Appearing first in a number of commercials, Winger was then cast as Lynda Carter's younger sister Drusilla ("Wonder Girl") in the TV series Wonder Woman during the 1976-77 season. She won small roles in several films during the late Seventies before getting her big break in 1980's Urban Cowboy, beating out more than 200 other actresses to costar opposite John Travolta. Winger followed up this success with a pair of Oscar-nominated performances in An Officer and A Gentleman (1982) and Terms of Endearment (1983). Her voice, electronically altered, was used as the voice of the alien in E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. She stepped in for Raquel Welch to star opposite Nick Nolte in a film version of John Steinbeck's Cannery Row (1982), and agreed to star in Mike's Murder (1984) for Urban Cowboy director James Bridges, but neither movie was well-received. Winger fared better with Black Widow (1987) and Betrayed (1988), the latter a Costa-Gavras thriller about white supremacists.
Sangamon County seal The police officer who had initially questioned Winger that day said Winger had had blood on his arms, hands, and neck. He was wearing gym shorts and a T-shirt, which supported his story that he had been working out. This officer testified that Winger had said he had kept his .45-caliber handgun in the nightstand of the master bedroom because of the strange calls they had received. Winger said that he saw Harrington bent over his wife, hitting her with the hammer, and had shot at him twice. Harrington then fell backward, blood spurting, and, Winger said, he had nearly run over him from his own momentum. Harrington had then raised his head, Winger said, so he shot him again.
