Wine-tasting is a California past time. You can spend months if not years visiting the tasting rooms of beautifully appointed wineries in this state of California. The wine tours take you to elaborate landscaped vineyards where you can experience the age-old tradition of wine making.

Wine-tasting group communication is currently evolving into a so-called "virtual" method invented by individuals who agree on a set of tasting principles and, although separated by great distances, obtain a previously approved group-selected bottled wine, or wines. On or about an agreed future date, the bottles are uncorked, poured and tasted. Notes are then taken which record each individuals perceptions about the wine and are later transmitted to the Internet list or Usenet group for comparison purposes.

Vintage uses state-of-the-art stainless steel wine tasting systems imported from Italy. Individuals put money on a Vintage Debit Card that is inserted into the system. You then have a choice of over 50 bottles from which to taste. Tastes are priced per ounce... you may choose to taste two or more ounces at a time. Vintage has over 25 wines open that are under $10 per glass and many under $6 a glass. Every step of the tasting will add more information to the equation, modifying the conclusions you're drawing about the wine. Aroma is the most complex element, and the most revealing to the experienced taster. Some commentators divide the aromatic components into several classes: those produced by the grapes themselves, those introduced by the chemical processes of winemaking and, finally, those that result from the evolution of the wine over time in the bottle. Sometimes the first two classes, which are most distinctive when the wine is young, are called the "aroma," while the third, which emerges only in maturity, is called the "bouquet."
