An underground wine cellar. Wine cellars offer the opportunity to protect alcoholic beverages from potentially harmful external influences, providing darkness and a constant temperature. Wine is a natural, perishable food product. Left exposed to heat, light, vibration or fluctuations in temperature and humidity, all types of wine, including red, white, sparkling, and fortified, can spoil. When properly stored, wines not only maintain their quality but many actually improve in aroma, flavor, and complexity as they mature.
This is an electronic book so just think, within minutes you can download it to your computer and start planning to create your own home wine cellar. Within minutes, you'll have the solution to your wine storage problems.
The Old World charm of Italy is the inspiration behind this Tihany- designed specialty venue, where guests enter through an archway reminiscent of a fine Napa Valley wine cellar. There, diners can enjoy Caesar salads prepared tableside, antipasti bar, Kobe beef, and a variety of steaks, all paired with a robust list of fine Italian wines.

Conventional wisdom does not necessarily need to be followed when establishing your custom wine cellar wishlist. A true custom creation has many distinct features unique to it, but there are always many other options to complete the look you want for your project. Here are a few ideas to take into consideration when planning your custom wine cellar.
Flooring: Probably the most common flooring material used in wine cellar design is sealed tile. (For a custom design, tiles can be hand painted) Cork flooring is growing in interest as well as availability, and sealed hardwood is a mainstay. Note: Carpeting should be avoided.
Passive wine cellars already include the proper wine storage conditions needed for wine to mature. Active wine cellars seek to imitate these same atmospheric surroundings. When designing for an active wine cellar consider the placement of your humidity and cooling devices and their controls or switches. Passive cellars will not be burdened by these devices.
