William Davidson has enjoyed a long and successful career as a producer, director and writer in his native Canada since 1948. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario and the Lorne Green Academy of Radio Arts, he had some early experience in Toronto in theatre, radio and journalism.

On July 24-25 1998, 16 distinguished marketing scholars from around the world met in Ann Arbor, Michigan to exchange views on Marketing Issues in Transitional Economies, as part of a Davidson Institute research workshop. While several papers were multicountry studies, others focused on individual countries, such as China, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Korea, Poland, Romania, Russia, and South Africa.

In addition to an academic career at the Ohio State University, where he wrote many articles on the retail field and a well-regarded textbook on retailing, Professor Davidson was one of the original founders of the highly successful retail-consulting firm, Management Horizons. Management Horizons was later merged into PricewaterhouseCoopers, and ultimately became the independent consulting firm, Retail Forward.
