Will Young (born January 20, 1979) is an English singer and actor. He became famous in 2002 when he won the British singing competition, Pop Idol. Since then, he has had a successful music career.

Will Young, the gay winner of the British talent show Pop Idol's first season, is reportedly in talks to join the production of Wicked in London's West End. He made his acting debut in the 2005 film Mrs. Henderson Presents.

THERE is no doubt that Will Young can sing. After all, he won the first series of Pop Idol in 2002, had a No1 hit single, 'Light My Fire' in the UK charts, won the Brit Award for best British single for 'Your Game' in 2005 and was nominated for the best British Male award in the Brit Awards in both 2005 and 2006. But can he act?

"It was Will Young who recently remarked that his ideal dinner date would be with the Queen. Last night the Pop Idol winner, who is currently at No 1 in the charts, got his wish when he performed at the Buckingham Palace pop and rock concert. Whether any of his fans in the 12,000-strong audience felt the same way is another matter. The youth contingent of the crowd, at whom this concert was so clearly aimed, were split in their opinions about the Royal Family.

In 2002 an unknown called Will Young was catapulted to fame by the television talent show Pop Idol. In 1924 Noël Coward became an overnight sensation when his play The Vortex simultaneously became a scandal and a huge hit. Now their stories intersect, as Young makes his stage debut in the role originally played by Coward himself. But the results fall far short of revelation.

Will Young makes a welcome return with what looks set to be his most successful album to date, 'Keep On'.
