The Wichita Wranglers, the Texas League affiliate for the Kansas City Royals, provide baseball entertainment for the entire family. Little baseball fans will enjoy Wilbur, the Wranglers mascot. The Wichita Wranglers of the Double-A minor league Texas League play their home baseball games at the Lawrence Dumont Stadium. Each August, this stadium is ... the venue for the nation's largest amateur baseball tournament, the National Baseball Congress World Series, which has been held in Wichita since 1931. The Wichita Thunder competes in the Central Hockey League at Kansas Coliseum from October through April.

The Wingnuts replace the Wichita Wranglers, who relocated to Springdale, Arkansas following the 2007 Texas League season. The Wranglers had played in Wichita since 1989. They were preceded by the Wichita Pilots (1987-88), the AA’s Wichita Aeros (1970-84), the AA’s Wichita Braves (1956-58) and the Wichita Indians (1950-55).
