Whoopi Goldberg, Christopher Plummer, Kevin Pollak and Zoe Warner will star in the indie family feature Blizzard, which marks the directorial debut of actor LeVar Burton. Additionally, Brenda Blethyn is in talks to join the live-action/CGI project, which will shoot in Toronto and Quebec City beginning February 18th. No domestic distributor has yet been secured, though the filmmakers are planning for a Christmas 2002 release date.

Actress Whoopi Goldberg bought a 745-acre retreat in Vermont a few months ago, public records show. The property includes a Colonial-style clapboard house. The partially fenced land comes with a barn, pond, stream, river, a shed, mountain views and wooded trails. Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country Realtors listed and sold the property.

Goldberg received another smash hit role in Sister Act (1992). Her fish-out-of-water with some flash seemed to resonate with audiences and was a box office smash. Whoopi starred in some highly publicized and moderately successful comedies of this time, including Made in America (1993) and Soapdish (1991). Goldberg followed up to her success with Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993), which was well-received but didn't seem to match up to the first.

In the early 1970s, Goldberg was briefly married to the man who had been her drug counselor. The couple had one child, Alexandra, and divorced in 1974. She was married to cameraman David Claessen from 1986 to 1988. Goldberg then had a high-profile romance with actor Ted Danson in the early 1990s. She has a daughter, Alexandrea Martin, and three grandchildren.

During a question-and-answer session at the end of Goldberg's performance, a student dressed in a nun's habit introduced himself as the president of Ithaca College's Goldberg fan club, known as "Sister Act," and requested a duet after the show. She said maybe. She ... said, contrary to rumor, that she hasn't and doesn't plan to buy land in the Finger Lakes but has good friends in the area.
