Whitesnake is one of the most popular groups in english rock in the 80's. David Coverdale is the founding member and singer, has influences from the hard rock band Deep Purple. The drummer Cozy Powell came from the british band Rainbow, and the guitarist John Sykes was from Thin Lizzy. The original lineup ... has the keyboardist from Deep Purple, Jon Lord. From Trapeze the guitarist and vocalist Mel Galley. This group was founed in 1982 and they get success very fast in England.

Whitesnake has always been a revolving door of musicians supporting band founder and frontman David Coverdale. Live In The Still Of The Night is certainly no different, finding Coverdale again surrounded by five hired guns, who breath new life into a band that was unceremoniously left for dead nearly 20 years ago. Back in 1997 Coverdale attempted a comeback with his Slip Of The Tongue guitar-ace Adrian Vandenberg, but the resulting two albums failed to make much of an impact. This new all-star lineup of Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach on guitars, Marco Mendoza on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums, and Timothy Drury on keyboards are arguably his best band yet, and they certainly have the muscle to resurrect this blues-rock dinosaur at a time when most of these "nu-rock" bands need to be stepped on with a two ton paw.
David Coverdale in 2006 In 1997, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Whitesnake's popular self-titled album, Coverdale and Vandenberg released an unplugged-style show recorded in Japan entitled Starkers in Tokyo. This reunion inspired them to then work together on a new album - Restless Heart. This was originally to be a solo album for Coverdale, but record company pressures made him release it under the Whitesnake name (similar to the case of Seventh Star by Black Sabbath, originally a Tony Iommi solo project). However, despite a release in both Japan and Europe, it was never available officially in the United States. The album marked a return to the band's earlier R&B stylings. The album peaked in the UK Top 40 and produced the bluesy ballad "Too Many Tears" (#46 UK).
Whitesnake - Whitesnake Formed in the late 1970's by David Coverdale after leaving Deep Purple, Whitesnake were originally a blues rock band with Jon Lord and Ian Paice from Deep Purple in the band. Despite several albums and constant touring, Whitesnake was unable to attain any significant commercial success.

In 1994, "Whitesnake: Greatest Hits" was released. As well as the release of the compilation, a new incarnation of the band went on a short tour in Europe (to help support poor sales), with former Ratt guitarist Warren DeMartini playing lead guitar and Denny Carmassi on drums. Adrian Vandenberg, one of Whitesnake's guitarists during the 1987-1991 period... returned to the fold as did Sarzo. Paul Mirkovich was now on keyboards. Following this the band returned to hiatus upon losing their recording contract.
To celebrate their 30th Anniversary, Whitesnake will release "Good to Be Bad", through SPV / Steamhammer end of April in Europe and USA - their first studio album in a decade. The album features 11 new, slamming Whitesnake songs which are guaranteed to take their place alongside their multi-million selling catalogue.
