Whiskey is a broad class of products distilled from grain at lower alcohol concentrations than vodka or neutral spirits. Most whiskeys are aged for a time, usually two to 12 years, in oak barrels that add further taste and color to the product. To be sold in the United States as whiskey, the product must be bottled at a strength of at least 80 proof.

Whiskey can be one of the most difficult spirits to find what you actually like. There is a wide range of types, flavors and prices that make the task of choosing a bottle a daunting one. Be careful when choosing a cheap brand of whiskey, they will undoubtedly lead to a horrible hangover. Higher priced whiskey of any type make excellent sippers while the mid-ranges are an all-around choice that are great for both sipping or mixing.
Whiskey Island, located immediately west of where the Cuyahoga River empties into Lake Erie, was named after a distillery that was built on the land in the 1830s. The "Island" is actually a peninsula of land that was created in 1827 when the mouth of the Cuyahoga River was moved to its current location. Today, Cuyahoga County owns a portion of Whiskey Island that includes Wendy Park and Whiskey Island Marina.
Staying true to Whiskey Creek’s historic past, the décor reflects a unique, yet warmly inviting feel of a rustic mountain cabin. A fireplace now stands instead of the old juke box and you’ll notice a “No Alcoholic Beverages” sign from the Prohibition years. The beautiful back bar, built in Europe in 1893, sailed around Cape Horn bound for a Ballard apothecary before it was moved here in 1934.
Whiskey has been around from 500-1000 years. It is distilled in oak casks which give each whiskey it's unique color and aroma, this is where it ages. Whiskey is made from various grains like barley, wheat, corn and rye. The word itself derives from the Latin aqua vitae, meaning "water of life".
