Alcohol may increase dizziness or drowsiness; avoid alcoholic drinks while taking bupropion (Wellbutrin®). Drinking excessive alcoholic beverages, using sleeping or anxiety medicines, or quickly stopping the use of these agents while taking bupropion (Wellbutrin®) may increase your risk for a seizure (convulsion). Bupropion (Wellbutrin®) can make your mouth dry. Chewing sugarless gum, sucking hard candy and drinking plenty of water will help. Do not treat yourself for coughs, colds, or allergies without asking your doctor or health care professional for advice. Also do not take any herbal or non-prescription medicines for weight loss without your doctor's advice. Some ingredients may increase possible side effects. If you are going to have surgery, tell your doctor or health care professional well before your scheduled surgery that you are taking bupropion (Wellbutrin®).
Be sure to let the doctor know if you have heart trouble, liver problems, or kidney disease before you start taking Wellbutrin. Use this drug with extreme caution if you have cirrhosis of the liver.
