Children, teenagers, and young adults who take Wellbutrin may be at increased risk for suicidal thoughts or actions. Watch all patients who take Wellbutrin closely. Contact the doctor at once if new, worsened, or sudden symptoms such as depressed mood; anxious, restless, or irritable behavior; panic attacks; or any unusual change in mood or behavior occur. Contact the doctor right away if any signs of suicidal thoughts or actions occur.

Wellbutrin may cause seizures when taken in large doses. Take Wellbutrin in divided doses three or four times daily to minimize the risk of seizures. Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had seizures, brain tumor, head injuries, or an eating disorder or are taking anti-psychotics, tranquilizers or other antidepressants.

Wellbutrin and Zyban should not be taken together as they contain the same active ingredient, which could cause seizures if too much is taken. To minimize the risk of seizures, dose increases should be done gradually, and the total daily dose of Wellbutrin should not exceed 450 milligrams.
