LYCOS RETRIEVER
"Weird Al" Yankovic

Unlike other parody artists such as Tom Lehrer and Allan Sherman, Yankovic strives to keep the backing music in his parodies the same as the original. While Lehrer reproduced the songs on piano and Sherman reproduced them orchestrally, Yankovic and his band essentially play the original song with new lyrics. Instead of using instrumental versions of the original songs, Yankovic and his band transcribe the original song by ear and re-record the song for Yankovic's parody version.[30]

Yankovic said he just wanted to play with the pop culture perception of the Amish, hoping it might bring a good-natured chuckle from even the most Old Order. He achieves that with clever lines such as, "I'm a man of the land, / I'm into discipline, / got a bible in my hand, / and a beard on my chin," and "I never wear buttons, but I got a cool hat / and my homies agree I really look good in black."

For the Poodle Hat Al TV special, Yankovic raised the question of artistic expression in a false interview with Eminem. As Yankovic has always done for his Al TV specials, he edited the footage of a previous Eminem interview and inserted himself asking questions for comic effect.[49]

Since his '80s heyday, Yankovic has continued to emerge every few years with new material that riffs on prevalent music of the day. And while he's never regained the same status of sensation that he held during his breakout years, the so-called "novelty" artist has nonetheless built a respectable career with considerable staying power.

"Weird Al" Yankovic is the eponymous debut album by "Weird Al" Yankovic, released in 1983. Unlike later albums, all the songs on this album were performed on accordion, without an attempt to duplicate the original song's orchestration.

Many words describe Alfred Matthew Yankovic, a man who is a successful rock star despite the fact that his instrument of choice is the accordion--! Some find him heroic, many find him funny, others call him life-saver (but what flavor ;>?), and some even find him sexy (?!).
