Weezer: Rivers Cuomo
built 237 days ago
After seeing that Weezer could still be successful, Rivers and the rest of Weezer started work on the fourth album, Maladroit. They periodically posted samples of the new songs in the Audio/Video section of there website, keeping all of the members informed. During this time, Rivers ... began to converse with some fans over message boards on the internet, mainly looking for suggestions, but sometimes just chatting with them or answering questions. Maladroit was released, and the fans took a keen liking to it.

A lone =w= was hanging as a backdrop as Weezer took the stage - with new bassist in tow. They opened their set with "The Dawn," a short and energetic little pop tune. Later in the show the entire crowd went wild as Rivers yelled, "What's my name?" And, almost in unison, the crowd chanted back, "Jonas!" He blasted the opening chords of "My Name is Jonas" as the rabid audience crushed forward into a sardine can hoping to be opened and devoured by their hero. Talking as if he'd known these kids forever, Rivers told the crowd that he'd just gotten a new guitar and he wanted to "try it on this next song." Upon finishing, he added, "Yeah, that sounded nice."

The Weezer logo, often shown as =w=, was created by Pat during the mixing of "Jamie", which appeared on a DGC compilation disc. Shortly after, the logo was taped onto the back of Rivers' jacket which he wore around LA until the tape fell off. The logo is a parody of the Van Halen logo. The Weezer logo is seen in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. The Weezer logo on display is ... the exact same logo that was created for the "El Scorcho" video.

Horn-rimmed headbangers who stole MTVs heart at the height of grunge, Weezer were poised for stardom. Then their functionally nuts leader, Rivers Cuomo, came undone. Now, with a new album and a million screaming emo kids in their corner, rocks unlikeliest second act is afoot. Owwww, geek out!

The "RCB" was a members only Weezer fan message board notorious for all kinds of shenanigans in 2002-2004, which earned it a rather nasty reputation, sometimes for good reason. It got its start as a board that Cuomo sometimes posted on in 2002. The board turned into The Really Cool Board, then the Really Cool Baseball board, shunning all activity unless it was about baseball. In mid 2005 it blinked out of existence. However, some former RCBers started a replacement board, the "Really Really Cool Board."
