Wayne Ferreira broke the record for most consecutive Grand Slam tournament appearances Tuesday by playing in his 55th straight major, one more than Stefan Edberg did. Ferreira played more than 800 singles matches in a career that spanned 16 years. He holds the record for the most consecutive Grand Slam tournament appearances, having played in 56 Grand Slam tournaments in a row between 1991 and 2004. He was a Wimbledon quarter finalist, won the title at the Queen’s Club in London in 1992, and holds a winning record against current World No.1 Roger Federer.
Ferreira holds the record for the most consecutive Grand Slam tournament appearances in men's tennis. He participated in 56 consecutive Grand Slams between 1991 and 2004. (Stefan Edberg held the previous record of 54.) Ferreira's best Grand Slam results came at the Australian Open – where he reached the semi-finals twice in 1992 and 2003.
