WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The relocation of Washington Gas's corporate headquarters to Capitol Hill has ended a unique relationship between business and the arts in downtown Washington. Since 1996, Washington Gas and Project BRASAS have partnered to display fine art in the windows of Washington Gas's headquarters at 1100 H Street, NW. When Washington Gas sold the building and relocated this month to 101 Constitution Ave., NW, the move shuttered an unusual venue for fine art in the heart of the business district. "Thirty artists have exhibited their work since the initial installation seven years ago," said Stevens Jay Carter, curator for the project and director of Project BRASAS. "The installations have given the downtown community an opportunity to view artwork that is on par with the work in our leading cultural institutions. The exhibits ... have assisted artists in establishing or reestablishing their careers nationally and internationally."
