Because Federal Way, Washington colleges are technically within the Seattle metropolitan area, they benefit from many of the same perks associated with big-city life. Terrific shows, fine dining, museums, and other cultural outlets attract students from Federal Way colleges in between classes. But there is much to see while within city limits as well. Federal Way first began as a major logging outpost, and even to this day, Weyerhaeuser remains the largest private softwood timber owner in the world. Admittedly, a collection of wood is not cause for celebration, but Weyerhaeuser sponsors many of the attractions in the area, including botanical gardens, an Olympic size swimming pool, and Celebration Park. But even Weyerhaeuser is no match for the other publicly funded parks throughout the city.
