Warts: People
built 621 days ago
Warts are a common, frustrating, and confusing problem for parents and children. In fact, some people still think that you get warts from frogs, that warts have 'seeds,' and have no idea that warts are a simple viral infection.
An Australian Government Initiative Warts are a nuisance. They don't look very nice and it can take quite a while to get rid of them. Lots of people get them, so don't feel too bad if you do too.
Warts can occur in people of all ages, but occur most commonly in children and young adults. They spread by direct contact, simply by touching the wart. Warts normally resolve spontaneously but the time it takes for this resolution is variable. Most warts resolve within weeks or months, but some may take years. It appears that a person's susceptibility to warts and the time it takes for them to go away is related to the individual's immune system. People who have immune-related diseases such as AIDS and lymphoma, or who are taking chemotherapy tend to have more warts that last longer.
Warts, particularly newer ones, are easily spread. They can spread to other parts of the body or to other people. You can reinfect yourself by touching the wart and then another part of your body. You can infect other people by sharing towels, razors, or other personal items.
Warts are contagious and children seem to be most susceptible to them. Anyone though can get them. Warts can be passed by direct contact, or indirectly when both people are in contact with the same surface, such as the floor or a table. An infected person can ... transmit it to other spots on their body.
Warts usually occur on the hands and feet, but they can affect the face and other parts of the body. Although they can be unsightly and embarrassing for people who have them, the common type of wart generally causes no harm.
