Walt Disney was born in Chicago to Elias Disney and Flora Call. He was named after his father and after his father's close friend Walter Parr, St Paul Congregational Church's preacher. In 1906 his family moved to a farm near Marceline, Missouri. The family sold the farm in 1909 and lived in a rented house till 1910, when they moved to Kansas City. Walt was nine years old at the time.

During the second phase of the "Walt Disney World" theme park, EPCOT was translated by Disney's successors into EPCOT Center, which opened in 1982. As it currently exists, EPCOT is essentially a living world's fair, different from the actual functional city that Disney had envisioned. In 1992, Walt Disney Imagineering took the step closer to Walt's vision and dedicated Celebration, Florida, a town built by the Walt Disney Company adjacent to Walt Disney World, that hearkens back to the spirit of EPCOT. EPCOT was ... originally intended to be devoid of Disney characters which initially limited the appeal of the park to young children but the company later changed this policy.

In 2006, Walt Disney Imagineering will give both versions at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom major overhauls to coincide with the release of the second movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Both storylines will be completely dismantled and replaced with storylines involving Captain Barbossa (from the first movie) and Davy Jones (from the second and third movies) leading separate searches for Jack Sparrow through the many scenes of the original attractions. The "Hurricane Scene", the "Crews Quarters Scene", the "Captains Quarters Scene" and the "Treasure Scene" at Disneyland will all be unchanged visually except for a few new props used in the movies. The Disneyland ride will receive its official re-opening at the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which will ... be held at Disneyland. [3]

In August of 1923, Walt Disney left Kansas City for Hollywood with nothing but a few drawing materials, $40 in his pocket and a completed animated and live-action film. Walt's brother, Roy 0. Disney, was already in California, with an immense amount of sympathy and encouragement, and $250. Pooling their resources, they borrowed an additional $500, and constructed a camera stand in their uncle's garage. Soon, they received an order from New York for the first "Alice Comedy" featurette, and the brothers began their production operation in the rear of a Hollywood real estate office two blocks away.

Disney moved frequently during his childhood, his father Elias Disney endlessly seeking the financial security that perpetually eluded his grasp. Born in Chicago, Disney spent his formative years on a Missouri farm, where he imbibed the vision of rural America he was later to mythologize, making friends with the animals who were subsequently transformed into chief actors in his cartoons: pigs, cows, dogs, and mice. After the farm failed, in part because the two eldest Disney boys fled their exacting father's demands, the family moved to Kansas City, where Elias became a newspaper route manager, giving each of his remaining sons, Roy and Walt, a share of the labour. From time to time, Walt Disney World offers special previews of new attractions on an informal basis, before the attractions officially open to the public. These previews are ... called "soft openings." During previews, the attraction may be open intermittently or not at all. Attractions that are in the "soft opening" stage are usually NOT listed in the official Park Times & Information guide. You'll have to check the Park Tip Board upon arrival at the theme park, ask a Cast Member and/or stop by the attraction to see if it's open. Since previews are used to test new attractions, there may be delays, the ride/show may shut down abruptly, etc.
