BOHEMIA, N.Y., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- NBTY (Nasdaq: NBTY), a leader in the dietary supplement industry, announced that its sports nutrition products marketed under the Nature's Bounty, Body Fortress brand will be available in March at Wal-Mart stores across the country. These products will complement strong sales of other Nature's Bounty products already present in Wal-Mart stores and is the first full-line program introduction by Nature's Bounty into Wal- Mart.
Dillman, 48, became executive VP and CIO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. last year, though she'd been at the helm of the Information Systems Division as senior VP since August 2002. This year, Dillman will oversee 2,500 business-technology projects that come with high expectations. Topping the buzz list is Wal-Mart's much-talked-about radio-frequency identification initiative, but Dillman will tell you that isn't even the most expensive IT project going on at the company, not "by a long shot." Other high-priority projects include revamping supply-chain processes, synchronizing product data with suppliers using the UCCnet standard, improving E-commerce platforms, and developing talent and fostering regulatory compliance in stores across the globe (see story, "People First: Talent Development Is A Priority").
"Sustainability is a priority at Wal-Mart so our team is excited about the new Green Works line," said Scott McCall, senior vice president and general merchandise manager, Wal-Mart. "In fact, when we learned more about the product line, we encouraged Clorox to expedite its global distribution plans and partner with us on marketing to reach the growing number of Wal-Mart shoppers looking for ways to make greener choices that positively impact the environment."

Analyzing what ends up together in that cart drives Wal-Mart's pricing, other experts said. Shoppers might buy cold medicine along with chicken soup and orange juice during flu season, but not all of those products need to be priced at rock-bottom, said Ms. Overby, the Forrester analyst. "They might say, 'If we get really good at pricing the cold medicine and promoting it and letting people know that, hey, we have that product in stock and ... at the best prices,' then they get people into the store," she said. "The other items in the basket might not be the lowest price in town, but the entire basket will be 10 to 20 percent less."
