Wal-Mart: Employees
built 627 days ago
Although Wal-Mart is going to be among the East Mountains and Estancia Valley areas' largest employers, the area's largest employer is still the Moriarty-Edgewood School District, according to Superintendent Karen Couch. That's why the district is seeing a change, Couch said.
Wal-Mart's rehabilitation continues, possibly: beginning in January, it will offer its employees a revamped insurance package designed to cut costs, expand coverage, and reduce the price of prescription drugs. Even past critics of Wal-Mart, such as health care advocacy group Families USA, are hopeful: "On face value, this looks like a very significant change and improvement." Some of the plan's details: a $100-500 grant to defray costs, premiums as low as $5/month, the "elimination" of expensive hospital deductibles, and an increase in the number of $4 prescription drugs to 2,400. more

Blog Marketing If they can’t get the Wal-mart employees to unionize they are trying another old strategy of propaganda, regulation accusations, along with the help of the pro-union media (which the NY Times author is a member of). What people fail to realize, is that this doesn’t hurt Wal-mart. It hurts the hundreds of thousand of employees trying to earn money for their families.
At issue is a so-called union exclusion clause that Wal-Mart at the time had in its benefits booklets for employees. The clause said unionized employees were not eligible for profit sharing, 401K and health plans.
Critics decry Wal-Mart's employee and workforce relations, low wages, poor working conditions, and inadequate health care. They ... denounce what they call the company's anti-union policies, and claim that Wal-Mart's high turnover rate (about 70% of its employees leave within the first year) shows that workers are dissatisfied with the lack of recognition and inadequate pay.[84]
