Prior to his Wagner career, Czeski was a standout in both basketball and football at Amsterdam High where he received numerous honors during his prep career. On the hardwood, he was third in the Big 10 Capital Region District with 18.5 ppg and ... averaged seven rebounds, and five assists per game as a senior. He was named Player of the Year by the Amsterdam Recorder and chosen as a First Team All-Star by the Daily Gazette and the Albany Times Union.
Wagner, the No. 8 team in the state, was waiting like a wolf licking its chops. The Lady Thunderbirds ran out to a 27-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back as they ended the Lady Matadors’ season with a 66-17 loss at Goldie Harris Gymnasium in the bi-district round of the Class 5A state playoffs.
Born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico, where he participated in numerous sports, Wagner has had a long involvement in athletics. He played freshman basketball and club soccer at BYU in Provo and played basketball and football at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. In between, he took time to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Monterrey, Mexico. He continues to serve his Church as the ward mission leader in the Laie Seventh Ward.

Wagner will look to rebound from what could best be described as a disappointing 2005-06. The Seahawks, picked by many to contend in the Northeast Conference, failed to even qualify for the conference tournament, finishing tenth in the league with a 6-12 record. Luckily for head coach Mike Deane, many of the key players from last season will be back with added incentive to play well. Wagner returns two-thirds of their starting backcourt in Mark Porter and Jamal Smith. Porter will most likely take over the ball handling duties for the graduated DeEarnest McLemore, and look for Porter to score some from the position as well. Smith, a member of the NEC All-Rookie Team last season, can play the two or three due to his size and skill.
Staceyann Claxton Wagner added to their halftime lead with a 10-4 run to start the second half as they led 47-32 with 17:49 to go in the game. All 10 of the Seahawks points scored during the run came from Walker as she tallied four field goals (one a three-pointer) and added a free throw. Hofstra responded, and outscored Wagner 16-5 over the next 6:12, to cut the Wagner lead to four at 52-48. That would be the closest the Pride would get the rest of the contest as the Seahawks countered with an 11-2 run to open a 63-50 lead with 7:08 left. The Pride got within eight with 1:08 left in the game before Wagner closed the game with a 6-0 run to earn their third victory of the season.

Wagner (15-5, 8-1 NEC) was led by 24 points from Mark Porter and 18 from Joey Mundweiler. Jamal Smith chipped in with 14 points, as the Seahawks were able to overcome a two-point, four-rebound effort from Durell Vinson, the team leader in both categories.
