Voodoo Vince: Enemies
built 262 days ago
VoodooVince 2 Voodoo Vince’s graphics are a visual treat, with particle effects aplenty and nicely detailed textures all around and a solid frame rate. All of the buildings and other structures are dreamlike in their design, with many slants and tilts to confuse the eye and draw you into the warped reality Beep is trying to create. Vince’s animations are smooth and varied, though those of the enemies you’ll face are average at best, most reduced to simple hops and scurries. A nice blend of colours suffuses the screen on many levels, though the palette does tend to veer toward the dark side, though that is fitting considering the macabre locations and tones. All in all, nice, but nothing to shake the rafters.

voodoo-vince-1a.jpg (43266 bytes) The novelty of Voodoo Vince (VV) comes from the voodoo powers which are basically Vince’s über move that wipes out all but the most powerful enemies. (Yes, he has regular punch/jump/float moves, too.)
Voodoo Vince is a fairly typical platformer. Vince can perform a variety of moves, from the standard double jump to a head slam, but what would a voodoo doll be without voodoo powers? When Vince collects enough Mardi Gras beads, he can summon great misfortune upon himself and then transfer the carnage to enemies around him. Poor Vince gets pricked with pins, ripped in half by chainsaws, melted in acid, zapped by aliens, diced in blenders and squashed in bear traps, just to name a few, but believe me when I say this is going to hurt his enemies more than it’s going to hurt him.

Voodoo Vince strikingly resembles Blinx: The Time Sweeper in its looks. Let's hope that this title can fulfill more of its innovative promise than Blinx. With a huge cast of unique characters and enemies to fight, varied levels, vehicular driving objectives, and a sizable quantity of puzzles to solve using
Along the way Vince will come up against numerous types of enemies and puzzles such as Pit Frogs, Gingerdead Men, some very obnoxious oil pumps, killadillos and others. Some enemies are easy to defeat, others arent. To assist with this Vince has numerous attacks to use, he can punch them, twirl around quickly knocking them off their feet or jump up and dive headfirst into their bodies. However he has one very unique ability. Being a voodoo doll, if you harm Vince, you will harm his foes. As you defeat enemies via conventional means (spin, punch etc) they will release beads.
Vince has some combat powers. He can punch and perform a whirling attack. Defeated enemies leave colorful beads behind and these slink and slide like oil on water toward you. Collect enough and you can perform a Voodoo Curse, which destroys all on-screen enemies in a humorous way and at the hapless protagonistï¾’s expense. Bear Trap, for example, creates a giant trap that snaps on Vince several times until heï¾’s cut in half. Then the power within him lashes out and destroys the bad guys.
