2000 Volvo S80 The Volvo S80 is an high-end executive car produced by the Swedish automaker Volvo and was introduced in 1998 as a replacement for the rear-wheel drive Volvo 960/S90 sedan. The very first Volvo S80 rolled off the assembly line on August. The engine of every single S80 has been hand built in the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg,Sweden. Unlike almost all other Volvo models, it did not have a station wagon version for its first generation. Now, the third generation V70 wagon is marketed as the estate version for the second generation S80 sedan. All of this is a part of a major product overhaul at Volvo, including a most luxurious large estate and sedan.
The 2007 Volvo S80 is available with the 4.4-liter V8 engine and all-wheel drive, with the 236 hp 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive, or with the six-cylinder and all-wheel drive. Safety features include patented body structure, ABS, traction control, yaw control; front airbags; the new dual-chamber side airbags; radar adaptive cruise control; the collision warning system with pre-braking: and the new optional blind-spot information system. The headlamps are now active xenon lamps that follow the road around curves. Also included in the safety roster is the Personal Car Communicator, and a new electronic key fob.

The 2007 Volvo S80 offers several unique safety features that are generating a lot of buzz. The first is a sensor that constantly monitors the distance between yourself and the traffic in front of you. Should that distance start closing rapidly enough to signify a possible impact, it activates Volvo’s Collision Warning. The system alerts the driver by illuminating the dash with a flashing red light and sounding an alert buzzer. It doesn’t stop there, though: the sensor ... triggers an application in the brakes to prepare them for emergency stopping, which reduces the stopping distance of the vehicle. The end result is avoiding or reducing the severity of a rear-end collision.
The Volvo S80 can be specified with an active chassis based on Volvo's Four-C technology. This is an advanced, self-adjusting chassis system that uses sensors to continuously monitor the car's behaviour. The dampers can be adjusted to suit the current driving situation in mere fractions of a second. Three alternative chassis settings - COMFORT, SPORT and ADVANCED - ... give the driver the option of adjusting the car's behaviour at the touch of a button to suit his or her personal tastes.
