The 2008 Volvo C70 gets no major changes. This four-seat convertible is based on Volvo's S40/V50 compact car. C70 has a power-retracting metal top with heated glass rear window. It comes in a single T5 trim level with a 227-hp turbocharged 5-cylinder engine. Manual or automatic transmission is available. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and front side airbags.

With its innovative three-piece retractable hardtop, the second generation C70 is a car that offers the best of both worlds. With the top up, it's a sporty coupe with dramatic, head-turning style. With the top stowed below the rear deck, it's an open-air convertible that invites wind-in-the-hair fun and excitement. What makes the all-new C70 even more appealing is that there is room for four people.

The 2008 Volvo C70 benefits from a comprehensive array of safety features. Dual-stage front air bags (SRS) and Volvo’s standard Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) with side air bags (SIPSBAGS II) and inflatable side curtain help protect front passengers from injury. (The side curtain—unique in a convertible—is manufactured from a special material that is designed to support itself without a roof structure.) The C70 features Volvo’s Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS), Roll-Over Protection System (ROPS), and seat belts with pyrotechnic pre-tensioners in all four seating positions. A Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is optional. All 2008 models are equipped with Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC) and a tire-pressure-monitoring system (TPMS).

Exactly 10 years ago, Volvo introduced its first real coupe for 30 years, C70. The C70 was developed by TWR based on Volvo 850 / S70 saloon. It looked quite handsome and, in turbocharged T5 form, ran quite fast. However, what made it unique was a cabin truly capable of sitting 4 adults. Two forms were available - coupe and convertible. Both of them were produced at the Uddevalla plant in Sweden which was a 50-50 joint-venture between TWR and Volvo.
