Reference to the July 2007 sales records, Volkswagen Canada is brimming with great results. Records show that a total of 3,442 new units were sold for that particular month alone, a 2.8 percent increase as compared to the 3,347 new units sold in July of the previous year. Since 1994, Volkswagen Canada has shared much of its operational structure with Volkswagen of America and Audi of America. Stefan Jacoby, incoming President & CEO of Volkswagen of America Inc., explained the change in structure, saying: “This step is being taken to reflect an even more focused approach to the Canadian automotive market. Volkswagen Canada was awarded a 2006 CAA Pyramid Award for Environmental Initiatives for extending their warranty coverage on all TDI diesel engines to cover the use of B5 Biodiesel fuel. The warranty extension provides motorists with the ability to choose an environmentally friendly alternative fuel without risking the loss of their warranty. The B5 Biodiesel blend is made with 5% biodiesel fuel, produces less fuel emissions than traditional diesel and improves operating efficiency of the TDI engine.
