Vivian Hsu is a Taiwanese-born singer, actress, and model. She made her music debut in 1991 at the age of 16 as a member of a female trio named ShaoNuDui (Literally, Girl's Group). This group... never achieved popularity and Vivian temporarily parted from singing to explore the opportunities available to her in modeling and acting. After going to Japan and achieving some popularity, she once again entered the music industry starting in 1996 by releasing a few singles and then her first solo album, all in Japanese. It's remarkable enough that she became famous in a culture and language different from her own. Learning one foreign language must not have satisfied her enough, as she went through a speed course on "how to speak Korean in one week" and released a Korean music album in the latter part of 1996.

Taiwanese popstar Vivian Hsu has signed up to be the new spokesmodel for Garmin Streetpilot in China. It’s been reported that the new deal will increase Vivian’s cash purse by about $3 million yuan(~$350,000US) a year. As with any product that Vivian Hsu endorses, she had to try it out for herself to see if it was worthy of her name. To her delight, the Garmin GPS was super easy to use and after a quick rock climbing lesson, she climbed up a small mountain for the initial product advertisements.

Vivian has continued to model for designers such as Hang Ten, Gucci and Mode Marie, and has modelled in all three of her brief, autobiographical books: Earth Onigiri (2001), Privacy (2001, ISBN 4-88745-060-5), and Wo Ai Taiwan (2002). In addition, most of her musical albums contain substantial inserts featuring new modelling work.
